Rhondda Symphony Orchestra Young Musician of the Valleys

Three finalists took part in the 2017 RSO Young Musician of the Valleys Competition:

  • Aisha Palmer, Harp

  • Isabelle Harris, Flute

  • Nathan Isaac, Clarinet

Many congratulations go to 16-year-old harpist, Aisha Palmer who won the competition with performances of two Divertissements by Andre Caplet and Clock Suite by Pearly Chertok.

The RSO would also like to thank Elin Adams and Liam Donovan who have done so much to organise this competition over the last few years.

The RSO Young Musician of the Valleys competition was founded in 2009. Colin Vyvyan, an RSO player and committee member for many years who is fondly remembered, left a sum of money to be used for the establishment of this competition. Young musicians from the County's of Rhondda Cynon Taff, Caerphilly, Bridgend and Merthry Tydfil are eligible to apply.
